CHICAGO BAROQUE-POP SINGER SONGWRITER
Suri is the brainchild of the Chicago-native songwriter Grace Wong. Being a Chicago-Native and an Asian-American, Wong sees the world through a unique lens. Trying to promote mental well-being and emotional healing through her music, Suri's music oozes of authenticity. Suri's passionate vocals and vulnerable lyrics flow seamlessly over a canvas of intricate and synthetic baroque-pop production. Fusing together sonic textures of Lorde and the classical training of Florence + The Machine, Suri is a force that cannot be stopped.
It appears that the public is begin to notice this as well. In two years that have followed the release of As I Am, Suri has started getting some notable gig opportunities. From the Elbo Room to Uncommon Ground in Lakeview, Suri has been readily providing Chicago with incredibly intriguing and intimately charged live performances. Wong's impassioned vocals and entrenching piano work combine with thunderous drums, making something that is far-more inpenetrable than their two-piece lineup would suggest.
The success of both Suri's recorded and live music has led to several fruitful press opportunities. Suri has done an interview with WLUW and the Chi Chat Chicago Podcast. Most notably, she was recently highlighted as the featured artist by popular rehearsal space Music Garage.
